Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is the man to beat in the race for the Golden Boot in the Premier League this season after his brace in the last league outing, an away win over South London outfit Crystal Palace. Mo Salah started the Crystal Palace game on the substitutes bench before coming on for fellow African star Sadio Mane in the second half. Mo Salah scored two goals and also provided an assist for Roberto Firmino as the Reds ran riot against their hosts. The brace from Mohamed Salah completed the 7-0 thumping of the South Londoners.
The brace against Crystal Palace took Mo Salah clear of the other challengers in the race to win the Premier League Golden Boot this season. His two goals took his goal tally to 13 in the league and two clear of the trio of Son Heung-Min, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jamie Vardy. Son, Calvert-Lewin and Vardy are all on 11 goals in the Premier this term. Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-Min didn’t find the back of the net in the last league game, a surprising 2-0 home loss to Leicester City. Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy scored the first goal of that Spurs game to take his tally to 11 goals in the Premier League this season. Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin fired blank in the last league game, a 2-1 win over Arsenal at home to stay on 11 league goals in the race for the Golden Boot.
Other challengers to Mohamed Salah in the Golden Boot race include Bruno Fernandes, Patrick Bamford and Harry Kane. Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes scored two goals in the 6-2 rout of rivals Leeds United at home to take his tally to nine goals in the league. Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford didn’t score during that game against Manchester United. Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane didn’t score in the 2-0 home loss to Leicester City in Spurs’ last game to stay on nine league goals.
