Since becoming one of the best players in the world, Radamel Falcao has not had the chance to appear in a World Cup tournament. It looks like his wait will have to go on after he was left out of the Colombian squad for the World Cup 2014. Colombia have been sticking with the provisional squad for a long time in the hope that Falcao will return from injury. After having seen their hopes dashed until the final moment, the Colombian coach has decided to leave him out of the 23 man squad.
The striker has failed to return from the anterior cruciate ligament injury that is offered a few months ago. Back when he suffered the injury, his participation in the World Cup was in major doubt since the recovery time was around six months. Even though that was positive news coming from the Falcao camp a few weeks ago, it looks like he has not achieved in a fitness to be playing at the top level. Falcao is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world. After making the move to Monaco for £ 50 million, he continues to be linked with big clubs like Real Madrid and Chelsea.
Falcao sent a message wishing his teammates good luck at the tournament. “I was very excited but now I’ll have to support the team from afar and I wish them well, hoping they play a good World Cup,” said the striker in a recent interview. Colombian coach José Pekerman also revealed that leaving out Falcao was the toughest decision he has taken in his career. Colombia will now struggling with the absence of Falcao since they do not have much top strikers in the squad. They are in the group containing the likes of Greece and Ivory Coast.
