Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao has struggled for form and fitness throughout the campaign and this is likely to see him return to his parent club Monaco at the end of the season.
Falcao moved to United on a season-long loan deal on a reported wages of around £ 300,000 per week. He was seen as the top strikers that United needed desperately after van Persie became injury prone once again. Yet, Falcao has not been able to deliver and has scored only four goals in 28 games for the Red Devils. As a return to Monaco looms, Falcao’s mother says that she is confident that the player will return back to his best.
There have been suggestions that Falcao has been offered to another Premier league outfit – Chelsea. However, it is highly unlikely that José Mourinho’s team will take a punt on a player who struggled immensely during his 12 months in the Premier League. Falcao was always going to be a gamble for United after he spent almost 7 months on the sidelines trying to recover quickly from the cruciate ligament injury, which ultimately prevented his participation in the World Cup 2014. Falcao’s mother has hinted that his son may choose to leave United if a new path comes up.
“Not everything has been easy in Falcao’s life. He had some difficult moments in his career. They slowed his progress and prevented him from participating in important competitions like the World Cup, or have confined him to the bench, like in Manchester.I often remind him that after a test or a difficulty blessings arrive. We hope for bigger and better things. God hasn’t abandoned us and my son will become again what he has been, a goalscorer,” said Falcao’s mother. The player also cost a £ 6 million loan fee.
