The manager of Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, is expected to place a bid for Radamel Falcao during the upcoming mid-season transfer window.
Mourinho was in Brussels the other day to watch the match between Belgium and Colombia. That was a friendly match and was played at King Baudouin Stadium. Talking to the reporters before the game, the Chelsea boss insisted that he had come to see his own players (Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard) in action, but, according to the reports, the main intention of Mourinho was to have a look at Falcao who was featuring for Colombia.
The Portuguese manager would not have been disappointed with what he witnessed there. Falcao was in supreme touch and he found the back of the net in the 51st minute to give his team a lead of 1-0. A few minutes later, Victor Ibarbo doubled that lead and Colombia eventually won by 2-0.
Falcao currently plays for Monaco. He joined the French club in May this year after leaving Atletico Madrid. Monaco was reported to have paid a huge amount to secure the services of the 27 years old Colombian forward. The exact amount was not disclosed, but, it was believed to be close to 60 million Euros.
Falcao has done amazingly well for Monaco so far. He has made 13 Ligue 1 appearances for them since his arrival and has scored 9 goals. But, there have been reports that he is finding it quite hard to adapt to life in France and he might be willing to make a move to England this January.
After the match against Belgium, when Falcao was asked about Mourinho being in the stands, he said, “I have no idea if I managed to impress him or not. Hopefully, I did that.”
“Every player wants to play in the English Premier League, but, I don’t have any difficulty at Monaco at the moment.”
